After War, Motor Industryes restarted slowly own production, we see the drawning of Ferrari and Porsche, future protagonists on Targa Florio, but most of cars we watch taking part in competitions are old models prewar, the race cars production is really homemade, but the willingness to do is great.

In '47 the Millemiglia restart, in '48 the Targa on Giro di Sicilia course.

I have known Arutunoff six or seven years ago, when he came in Sicily on the occasion of a Targa historyc commemoration with a Lancia Flaminia SZ.

I hope he is watching this thread (i don't know it); he is able to say something about.

This is what I have on the '57 Giro di Sicilia.

https://aws-cf.caradisiac.com/prod/mesimages/431238/Giro di Sicilia57.jpg

Anyone that has more info, so I can fill in (some of) the blanks ?

Hello Ronny, sorry but I cannot help you; the informations I have, concern the editions coupled Giro-Targa ('12-'13-'14-'48-'49-'50). Informations more comprehensive and complete on entry lists of Giro only are more difficult to find. :non: It needs research into local newspaper's archives of that time!

Hi Ronny, very interesting pictures, I never seen the cars n°72 and 158, a precious document.

I know Gino Giugno, but I don't know the book; what its title?

As concerning the photos, I wish to do some clarification (according to my database):

1959 car n°20 "Ivanhoe"(Pietro Laureati)- Ivo Pompei results 16°, instead Gustavo Laureati on Osca results 19°.

1960 car n°32 driven by Latella-Fiordelisi

As concerning your data I am able to help you, give me a little of time only. :p

For the #32 car the book gives NATELLA, and you say it's LATELLA.

Can you confirm one of them?

I also have a Natella in the Gran Premio di Napoli one week later, driving a Giulietta SZ

What a wonderfull série of pictures for Alfa-lovers, you just made my day!

Here a strange photo of Caroll Shelby but I confess I didn't knew he ever raced in the Targa (shame). The car looks like one of the Parravano's cars (and he came in Italy to take delivery of them) but the bulge on the bonnet is supposed to have been added for clearance when a Corvette V8 engine was installed much later????

Hi pifpa, I think the car n°110 did not take part in Targa, even if the background seems at Targa; it is not quote on any entrylist, but may be it took part in official tests failing the qualification; I'll investigate!

As concerns the painting, it is lovely... but fantasy! (I don't understand the reason)

Alfaronny,

Great pictures of those beautiful Alfa’s, especially the Giulietta SVZ #26, a gorgeous car.

As a member of the Dutch Alfa Spider Register I was also pleased to see a Giulietta Spider

as participant in the Targa Florio. Do you know if there were also Duetto’s or Coda Tronca’s who participated in this great event.

Do you or anyone else have any pictures of the drivers Nino Todaro and Ferdinando Latteri and their Tipo 33/3 in which they participated in the 1971 Targa Florio.

Shortleg,

Just great those Latteri-Todaro pictures, especially the colourphoto!

Is this Fernandino Latteri now a politician in Sicily?

My favourite F1-driver, Carlos Reutemann is a politician in Argentina now.

When my parents bought their first black and white television – I think in 1974 –

one of the first sportevents I saw was a Grand Prix. I can still remember the

drifting white Brabham BT44 with Reutemann at the steeringwheel, that made

me aware of autosport.

Ciao tutti
