Hello all together,

I just find these forum and spend some hours to read these topic, very interesting for me.

So possible some of you around can help me a little further on with the history of my 1967 Austin Mini Cooper S.

These Cooper (car No. 196) was entered and raced by it´s owner Prince Paul Metternich in the 51st Targa Florio.

During the race they had an accident in round 5. Over the years I get some pictures from Rainer Schlegelmilch and Bernhard Cahier.

But for the correct restoration I´m looking for further information and more pictures.

Any idea what happens in round 5?

Any further pictures for me?

Hello friends, here I am with Targa '53;

43 starting with a lot of contending for victory; main protagonists are as usually Ferrari, Lancia, Frazer Nash and now Maserati. Ferrari team lines up the 225 S type for Castellotti and Bonomi, the 250 MM for Cabianca and Scotti more other private cars; Lancia lines up B20 2500 type for Bornigia, Valenzano, Pucci and Anselmi; the new D20 type for Taruffi, Bonetto, Maglioli, Bracco and Manzon; Maserati also the A6GCS for Musso, Mantovani, Giletti and Fangio; at last Frazer Nash, the usually type for Cortese.

About an hour before starting, while testing the cars, Bonetto and Bignami crashed, staying out of the race!

Despite the rain, the race is engaging and after the first part dominated by Ferraris, at last Maglioli won after Taruffi withdrawal; 2nd was Giletti and 3rd Fangio-Mantovani on Maserati both.

This rare image refers to MontePellegrino climb '50, the last race of Nuvolari on Abarth (5°overall and 1°cat).

In the background Carlo Abarth.

Mild edition in '54, comparated to the previous year: 36 starting only and the victory struggle reserved to Lancia and Maserati with Ferrari as outsider.

Lancia lines up two D24 type for Taruffi and Castellotti; Maserati three A6GCS for Musso, Scarlatti and Bellucci; Ferrari two 225 S for Biondetti and Minzoni.

After the victory in Millemiglia, Taruffi on the same car, won the Targa too ahead to Luigi Musso on Maserati and an amazing Roberto Piodi on Lancia Aurelia B20.

Wonderfull photos , most of them I have never seen before. The one of the Ferrari-Abarth is particularly interesting.

Hi Ronny, yes it is the crew Ormezzano-Scabini in Rally Targa Florio '79 (79°)!

At last, in 1955 the Targa is part of World Championship Make with Buenos Aires, Sebring, Millemiglia, LeMans and Tourist Trophy. On traditional Piccolo Circuito delle Madonie (13 laps for 72 km, equal to 936 km) 47 starting and large representatives of official car Factoryes as Mercedes, Ferrari, Maserati, Osca, more private Lancia, AlfaRomeo and Fiat.

The silver arrows Mercedes line up the 300 SLR type for Moss-Collins, Titterington-Fitch and Fangio-Kling; the Ferrari team, the 750 Monza for Piotti-Cornacchia, Maglioli-Sighinolfi and an hybrid for Munaron-Shelby; the 857 S type for Castellotti-Manzon and a 500 Mondial for Pucci-Cortese. Maserati lines up the agiles A6 GCS for Giardini-Manzini, Bracco-Bordoni, Scarlatti-Lippi, Mancini-Musy and a 300 S for Musso-Villoresi. Osca with MT4 type for Cabianca-Carini and Rotolo-Sirchia; at last a Gordini 24S for Ricci-Scotti.

The race is a tireless fight between Moss, Castellotti and Fangio.

When, on 4th lap Moss goes out of road, the race seems ended for him, but by help from sicilians fans (!), he was able to leave again, managed to close the gap (more than 6 minutes) and to win the race leading up to Fangio and Castellotti at 96,290 km/h average.
