A suivre donc...

The Rolls-Royce Phantom has driven kings, queens, and heads of state in all corners of the globe since the model's debut in 1925. Indeed, there aren't many things in the world that display the certain level of elegance of the Phantom. The vehicle is a staple of the British brand and was a passion project for founder Sir Henry Royce (1863–1933). "Take the best that exists and make it better," said Royce, when explaining the motto of the company. And for nearly a century, that's just what his company has done. Which is why Rolls-Royce owners and fans alike will be so excited to know that the British automaker has just unveiled the Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII, the latest model and most beautiful to date.

For those who have closely witnessed the evolution of the Phantom over the years, one of the most immediately noticeable features is the taller front grille. Not only is it slightly more prominent in its stance, but it also bends away more gracefully at its sides, and toward the front of the body. The exterior design was yacht-inspired, which means that nearly every line on the vehicle runs parallel so the view, from front to back, is as uninterrupted as any Phantom ever created.

Inside the car, it is so quiet, it's as if you are wearing noise-canceling headphones. Yet it's not just the solitude one obtains in the Phantom, it's the attention to detail. Much as with every Rolls-Royce, each part of the interior has been formed to enhance the level of elegance. "I want every Rolls-Royce to transcend time," says Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce. "I never want someone to look at a previous model and say, that's the old Phantom. They all have to have a timeless element to them. Something almost impossible to explain." To that end, the car—which took five years to make and had, at one point, roughly 500 people working on it—has something no other Rolls-Royce interior has featured: a bespoke work of art which is prominently displayed on the front dashboard. New Phantom customers can select from one of several prominent artists to beautifully design their dashboard. Rolls-Royce will also work with potential customers in commissioning the most high-profile artists in the world (at a price) to design the front console. The goal in adding such glamorous interiors is at the heart of what Rolls-Royce aspires to do with each of its new vehicles: Stay true to the core of the brand, while also taking a leap forward.

"When an elegant man or woman exits the room, you will feel their presence has left the space," explains Müller-Ötvös. "That's the feeling I want every time this Phantom drives past someone on the street and out of sight." The all new Rolls-Royce Phantom should arrive in early 2018.
