Wolfgang Denzel NEVER EVER drove a Porsche because his Denzel sports car was a Porsche rival. The confusion over the Porsche #54 probably arose over the entry of Arnulf Pilhatsch in a VW-Denzel (Beetle with Denzel engine) under #54. But Pilhatsch was ordered by Wolfgang Denzel (his boss and personal friend) to replace him in his BMW 502 #48. At that time Denzel had more impoartant matters to attend to. He was busy rescuing BMW with the design of the Denzel 600, to become the BMW 700.

The vacant #54 seems to have been allocated to a late entry but I cannot find his name in my file. All I have is the retirement of #54 in the first special test of the 1957 Alpenfahrt.
